Addis Ababa, Ethiopia (04 June 2022)
Raji Ashenafi, a 2022 (2014 E.C) Adama University of Science and Technology graduate with majors in mathematics and physics, created headlines by securing A+s in 60 subjects.
Born and raised in Kelem Welega Gidami, Raji received straight A’s in his 10th grade national exam and scored an even more impressive score 647 on his university admission exam. The 25-year-old made a splash on the news, having attained a remarkable grade report that set him apart from 1253 of his peers that graduated from the same university.
According to Dr.Lemi Guta, the president of Science and Technology in Adama, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) has promised to provide Raji Ashenafi with a scholarship opportunity that will suffice him until he finishes PhD. After doing so, Raji hopes to return to his home country to open a Centro- Theoretical High Energy Physics PhD Program that will be training students in Ethiopia in various science and technological fields.
Such a vision is welcome in countries like Ethiopia, who continue to lose highly skilled professionals, both military and civilian, to Western Europe and the United States, despite being the ones who badly need trained manpower.
