Today, May 12, 2022, Bank of Abyssinia signed a historic contract with China State Construction Engineering Company for the construction of its tallest tower in East Africa.

The tower building will be the tallest structure in East Africa, standing 270 meters above ground on a 9700-meter-square plot of land near Mexico Square. The Bank of Abyssinia headquarters complex has a total built-up area of 174 thousand square meters. The main tower has 60 floors in total (56 floors above ground and four floors underground), said the bank in a statement.

Among the underground functions are the mechanical parking area, vault and equipment rooms, and vehicle lobby area. The sky garden is at the very top of the building. The top of the tower building accommodates the bank’s logo with a hollow glass curtain wall of diamond structure. The complex primarily consists of an office, a podium with nine levels above ground, a lobby, a mall, a cinema, and a lecture hall.

The building complex is made up of another block with 20 stories above ground and two stories underground.
