The state telecom has announced it will start to sell mobile phones on credit by using the National Identity as a guarantee and thus will be operational with the launch of the National ID Project, according to The Reporter Newspaper.

The company has been selling mobile phones to insured employees for the past one year and has so far sold more than 10,000 phones, but the casual ID was not a strong guarantee. Ethio Telecom’s Head of Sales, Mohamed Haji, said that no further guarantee will be required other than the National ID this time.
