Amanuel Balcha, a lecturer at the University of DembiDollo in Western Oromia, built his own drone and flew it for 250 meters. According to Dembi Dollo University President Dr. Leta Tesfaye, Emmanuel Balcha, a mechanical engineering graduate from Arba Minch University who is now teaching at Dembi Dollo University, is also working on putting together two more drones and one plane using locally available parts.

Panel discussions and exhibitions of creative materials prepared by university students were held to commemorate “Innovation Day” at the university. According to Dr. Leta, the program aims to help university students in their creative activities while also rewarding those who excel at it. Coffee makers, wood scrubbers, textile machines, parts for various equipment, chicken incubators, and water pumping motors are among the goods that the university is assisting young entrepreneurs to develop and enrich.
