Aster Buna, a medium-sized coffee roasting company based in Ethiopia, Addis Ababa, has been growing its market both domestically and internationally. The international demand is attributed to the strong demand of Arabica coffee, which originates in Ethiopia.

The company purchases green coffee beans from the Ethiopia Commodity Exchange instead of sourcing coffee from smallholders. This is beneficial to purchase coffee as needed, based on customer preferences. The disadvantages, on the other hand, are price and availability changes based on local market conditions. Over the next five years, Aster Mengesha, CEO, wants to triple the size of her company, with growth in both domestic and international markets. She also manages a small coffee shop where clients can sample her mixes in Addis Ababa.
