Addis Ababa, Ethiopia (16 May 2022)-Today, the Ministry of Finance announced The FDRE Ministry of Finance, and the World Bank inked a Financing Agreement in the form of a Grant of $300 million (ETB 15.6 billion) to support the rehabilitation and recovery of conflict-affected parts of the nation.
H.E. Ahmed Shide and Mr. Ousmane Dione, representing the Ministry of Finance and the World Bank Country, respectively, signed the agreement.
The Ministry of Finance claims that the resources will be used to fund programs aimed at assisting communities in conflict-affected areas in regaining access to basic services including education, health, and water, as well as providing special assistance to survivors of gender-based violence.
The project will be conducted in selected woredas of Amhara, Afar, Tigray, Oromia, and Benishangul, according to the statement. In high-conflict areas, the initiative will be implemented on behalf of the government by a third-party institution based on an agreement that the government will enter.
