Mideksa Beyene, an Ethiopian American, has used the #GreatEthiopianHomeComing Challenge to bring an off-grid internet solution to distant schools for e-learning purposes. The solar-powered device, which has its own Wi-Fi system, has a 2-terabyte server, and can be connected to cell phones and computers to give e-learning in distant schools without internet connection.

Furthermore, more than 60,000 e-books have been uploaded to the off-grid internet solution, and ICT professionals are trying to fine-tune its flexibility for local use. The government urged the Diaspora to follow Mideksa’s lead and assist efforts to improve the educational system.
