Speaking on the occasion, Finance Minister, Ahmed Shide, who led the performance review during the first quarter of the 2014 Ethiopian budget year, said the airline has shown strong performance in terms of profit and growth.
Minister Ahmed further stated that ‘In addition to Ethiopian Airlines achievement in passenger and cargo transportation in the first quarter of the budget year, the airline demonstrated a satisfactory performance in project management and execution effectively.’
Despite the Covid-19 pandemic hit the aviation sector hard with global cumulative losses reaching €103bn ($125.9bn), out of which €1.6bn was incurred by African airlines, the Ethiopian Airline says it has generated USD 3.3 billion in annual revenues in the end of 2020 FY, resulting in a positive result
In 2021 first three months, Ethiopian Airlines on-time performance surpasses industry average reaching 91% On-Time Performance of all global flight departures for the last three months while the industry average stands around 85%.
