Ethiopian Airlines has partnered with utu, which works to transform tax-free shopping worldwide by empowering travelers with the freedom to obtain a higher VAT refund, to boost value from tax-free shopping for travelers.
Passengers enrolled in Ethiopian’s ShebaMiles loyalty program will be able to receive larger tax refunds starting December 16, 2021, even if they are not flying with the carrier, following a substantial 25% increase in loyalty program incentives. When making a tax-free purchase, travelers may simply use the new utu Tax Free Card in the utu Tax Free app to get the boost. ShebaMiles members can now increase the value of their VAT refund by collecting 4,167 ShebaMiles for every USD100 spent using the virtual utu Tax Free Card on the utu Tax Free app.
