Over Birr 72.3 million worth of contraband items were seized last week. Officials seized more than Birr 47.4 birr worth of outward contraband and Birr 24.9 million worth of inward contraband items at various branches.
The Moyale, Adama and Hawassa branch offices are in the forefront of controlling smuggling and have seized contraband items worth over 15.4 million, 12 million and 5 million birr respectively. Among the items seized were gold, ammunition, electronics, coffee, medicine, cosmetics, weapons, khat, drugs and various national currencies.
