Addis Ababa, Ethiopia (April 2022) – Ethiopian Electric Power (EEP) has signed a 16.4 million U.S. dollars electrical equipment purchase agreement with TBEA Co., Ltd., a private limited company (TBEA Co., Ltd) for the purchase of GIS Switch Gir framework.
Ethiopian Electric Power (EEP) announced the news in a press release. The agreement was signed by Asheber Balcha, CEO of Ethiopian Electric Power, and David Hao, a representative of Tebian Electric Apparatus, a private limited company.
According to the press release, the agreement is part of a three-year Framework Agreement for the purchase of 15 and 33 kV GIS Switchgears. It intends to replace 15- and 33-kilovolt substations that have been in disrepair for several years, as well as those that have been in operation for many years. In six months, the first round of procurement will take place, with the replacement of the 18 GV switch and the 26 33 KV substation switch with a new GIS switch. More than 65 15- and 33-kV substations will be switched to the new GIS switch over the next three years of the framework agreement.
