Ethiopia’s Abay River bridge project, which spans 380 meters, is set to be completed in the first quarter of 2023, according to a China Communications Construction Company (CCCC) official.
Chen Li, project manager of the CCCC’s Abay River bridge project, stated that the project, which is currently 60% complete, is expected to be completed by the first quarter of next year, according to state-affiliated media outlet Fana Broadcasting Corporate (FBC).
According to Gebeyawe Belay, deputy general manager of the Bahir-Dar city Construction Development Division, Amhara regional state, the bridge, which will be 52.2 meters wide when completed, aims to improve traffic flow in the city.
For more than two decades, the CCCC has been in Ethiopia, constructing landmark projects such as the 85-kilometer Addis Ababa-Adama expressway and the Addis Ababa Bole international airport passenger terminal. It has also constructed and commissioned several industrial parks, including Mekelle and Jimma.
The marvelous Bahir Dar Abay River Extradosed Bridge has an overall span of 380 meters. The Bridge, when completed, will have a cross-sectional width of 43 meters that will accommodate 6 vehicles on the left and right lanes, a two-way bicycle lane, and a 5-meter walkway on both sides.
The Bridge with a project cost of USD 51 million is constructed by CCCC who entered into a contract agreement on August 05, 2019.
The projects supervision is done by a Turkish consultant named BOTEK Bosphorus in sub consultancy with STADIA Engineering Works Consultant
