According to the latest data provided by the National Bank of Ethiopia (NBE) in March 2022, the country’s coffee export revenue climbed from $764.1 million in 2018/19 to $855.9 million in 2019/20, representing a 28.6% yearly rise, write New Business Ethiopia.
According to Ethiopia’s annual report, which aggregated statistics from the Ethiopian Customs Commission, Ethiopia’s hard currency income from coffee export climbed by 25.1 percent to 909.4 million in the budget year 2020/21.
Ethiopia earned $578 million in the first six months of the budget year, which began on July 8, 2021, by exporting 148,882 tons of coffee. Ethiopia exported 230.93 million kg of coffee in the 2018/19 fiscal year. The volume has increased to 271.11 million kg in 2019/20. The volume decreased to 248.65 million kg in the previous budget year (2020/21) despite a 25.1 percent increase in overall import income due to a coffee price hike from $3.16 per kilogram to $3.66 in 2020/21.
