According to CSA, Ethiopia’s year-on-year general inflation rate fell to 33.6 percent in February 2022, after reaching 34.5 percent the previous month. When compared to the preceding month of January 2022, the month-over-month food inflation rate for February 2022 grew by 2.0 percentage point. The non-food inflation rate fell by 4.4 percent over the same time period. The cause of the Non-Food Index’s 4.4 percent drop is the high transit prices recorded in February 2021 as a result of the Corona virus epidemic. When compared to last year’s month of February 2013, the price of transportation in February 2022 and the preceding months showed a decrease. This resulted in a decrease in overall non-food inflation. Moreover, when compared to the same period previous year, the Telecommunications Inflation rate has decreased.
