Ethiopian long-distance runner, Letesenbet Gidey (ለተሰንበት ግደይ, born 20 March 1998), wins the 2022 world athletics championship in 10,000m.

Letesenbet Gidey eventually gets her GOLD after a silver in 2019 and a bronze in 2021, putting any questions about her capacity to deliver in championship racing to rest.

She was a bronze medalist in the 10,000 meters at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and a silver medalist in the event at the 2019 World Championships. Letesenbet now holds the world records for the 5000m and 10,000m, which she set in October 2020 and June 2021, respectively.
