Nyala Insurance S.C. (NISCO) has announced the launch of a new insurance product called “Diaspora Special Assistance. The new package will cover an individual’s acceptable hospitalization, surgery, medical expenditures, pharmaceutical items, and Covid-19 related expenses for a maximum of 90 days per trip for a period of one year, for individuals aged 14-80. The service can be purchased by the company’s agents both at home and abroad, and online as well.
To that end, the cost shall be calculated up to a maximum of $13,000 (Birr 640,000.00) per individual claim request, plus a USD 50 application fee. Similarly, the service will pay the costs of repatriation of mortal remains from the place of death to Ethiopia in the event of the insured’s death in the individual’s country of residency and the transportation costs of close relative/friend involved in transporting corpse.
