Dube Ale, the latest digital lending offering to hit the Ethiopian market, marks a significant milestone in Ethiopia’s digital financing sector. With its innovative “Buy-Now Pay Later” scheme, Dube Ale offers customers the ability to purchase products and services on credit, providing a flexible and convenient option that will undoubtedly transform the way Ethiopians approach their spending.
To utilize the service, interested customers can download the Dube Ale application from the Play Store or App Store, register, and then visit a nearby Dashen Bank branch to set a spending limit. Eligibility for the service requires customers to be over 18 years of age and to have a monthly income, which they can prove through documents such as a letter from their employer or a business license, in the case of business owners.
Currently, the maximum spending limit on Dube Ale is set at 700,000 birr, and customers can only make payments using the app, with no provision for withdrawals. One of the most significant benefits of Dube Ale is the flexibility it offers consumers. With the option to pay back in installments over three months, six months, or a year, customers can make purchases without worrying about immediate payment.
The Dube Ale application is designed to be user-friendly, with an intuitive interface that allows customers to access their account information easily. Customers can review their accounts, view their credit balances, check their minimum monthly payments, and review their payment options. The app also makes it easier for customers to pay back their credit by allowing them to link their accounts to Amole or Dashen Bank’s mobile banking platform.
While Dube Ale, originally named Dube Pay, is a new service, it has already onboarded several merchants, both physical and online such as Guzo Go, Shoa Supermarket, Warit, and Queens Supermarket, making it easier for consumers to find businesses that accept the service. The service is also flexible, allowing customers to set their spending limits according to their needs and budgets.
