Addis Ababa, Ethiopia (12 July 2022)

The Addis Ababa City Transport Bureau (AATB) announced two hours ago that its impending Transport Tariff Reform will take effect on July 14th. The revision will be implemented in the country’s capital city and will apply to mid-bus and mini-bus service vehicles, as per the words of Yirgalem Berhane, Deputy Head of AATB. The tariff increase is reportedly a move to align Ethiopia’s gas costs with global oil prices.

To highlight some of the specifics, the rate on minibusses has gone up between 0.5cents and Br6, whilst that of mid-buses has increased between 0.5cents and Br2, both dependent on kilometers traveled and destination points. Tariff revision on Sheger and Anbessa Buses are to be undertaken by the end of this month.
