Yesterday, Safaricom Ethiopia revealed that it had launched a broad consumer test of its network in the Harari region.

Safaricom Ethiopia asserts that the Harari region is essential to the company’s planned city-by-city regional network roll-out and stringent service trials leading up to their national launch.

On the 07 prefix of Safaricom Ethiopia, customers can buy SIM cards and select the phone numbers of their choice. Customers who purchase Safaricom Ethiopia SIM cards will receive a free month of data, voice, and SMS service as part of their welcome package. Along with the welcoming gift,

Customers will actively be able to reload their airtime balance by buying airtime vouchers from stores or branded souks to keep utilizing the network’s services.

Subscribers will be able to access data services, call and send SMS to Safaricom Ethiopia and Ethio Telecom customers, and make international calls anywhere in the globe on Safaricom Ethiopia’s test network in Harari.

Customers will also have the choice to contact customer service representatives at the call center by calling 700 to speak to customer experience agents in their chosen language (Amharic, Afaan Oromo, Af-Somali, Tigrigna, or English).

In order to launch their network and services in 25 cities by April 2023, this week’s launch of the customer trial in the Harari region follows the network and services becoming live in Dire Dawa City.
