Addis Ababa, Ethiopia (21 June 2022)

The FEDRE Custom Commission issued a publication on June 01 in compliance with the new chat export contract registration and implementation regulation (code 21/2012) set by the Ministry of Trade and Regional Integration. The Ministry saw it fit to incorporate chat export into the contract registration and administration procedure in order to promote fairness in the transaction and maximize revenue from the sector.

As such, Debele Kebeta, the Customs commissioner, sent out a letter to all concerned institutions stating that chat export contract registration and license services have become available since May 28, 2022. All banks faced with such export requests must ensure that among all necessary documentation is proof of registration, unless an otherwise, export permits are not to be given out.
