ThinkYoung and Boeing officially launch a Coding Summer School 2022, which will be hosted in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia from June 30 to July 3, 2022.
Think Young (NGO) is partnering with Boeing to officially host its 14th coding school summer program, which has been taking place annually for a few days in different cities. According to Delila Kidanu, director of Think Young Coding School, the aim of this program is to teach young children the basics of coding in a few days by providing the right tools and skillsets covering a wide range of activities such as robotics and drone workshops. The bigger aim is to create intervention from different stakeholders, like the Ministry of Education, and partners, and lobby them to give attention to children who are interested in coding.
The school which has previously partnered with Google, the European Union, and many international organizations has been actively giving training in different cities such as Brussels, Kenya, Rwanda, the Netherlands, Hong Kong and Belgium, has now made its way to Ethiopia.
Today, June 30, 2022, marks the first day of the summer program, The Boeing-sponsored Coding School aimed to offer young people in-demand skills in the ICT sector free of charge. Furthermore, it wishes to accelerate investments in Africa’s most valuable resource: its youth.
Senior government authorities from the Ministry of Innovation and Technology, the Head of the African Union Youth Division, Think Young foundation representatives, Addis Ababa City Administration Education Bureau, invited guests, and members of the media attended the ceremonial opening.
