The top 25 Most Admired African Brands (Prompted) list included Ethiopian brands Anbessa at #4, Ethiopian Airlines at #5, and Sole Rebels at #19 respectively.
In addition, Anbessa is ranked 29th in the Africa 100: Africa’s Best Brands rankings, while Ethiopian Airlines made a grand entrance by ranking 51st. It was the first of the big three African airlines (Ethiopian Airlines, Kenya Airways, and South African Airways) to restart service. Its approach of turning passenger flights into cargo planes and distributing vaccines throughout the pandemic has been praised.
The study, which yielded over 80,000 brand mentions and over 2,000 unique brands, was conducted independently using Geopoll’s sophisticated digital survey platform, during the first quarter of 2021, by Brand Africa partners Geopoll, with a database of over 250 million respondents in emerging markets, with strategic analysis and insights by Kantar and Brand Leadership.
