Addis Ababa, Ethiopia (05 May 2023)

UNDP Ethiopia, in partnership with the National Bank of Ethiopia and the Ethiopian Capital Market Authority, is seeking the services of a consulting firm to design and manage the Regulatory Sandbox Unit in Addis Ababa.

The Regulatory Sandbox Unit will facilitate the testing of financial innovations, payment systems, disruptive business models, and delivery mechanisms under a set of conditions. The objective is to foster financial innovation and inclusive economic growth in Ethiopia while addressing regulatory barriers and mitigating risk.

During the initial stages of its creation and development, the sandbox will be managed by the Innovative Finance Lab (IFL), an organization established and run by the UNDP and the NBE.

The sandbox will operate as a testing platform for various financial services and products, including digital products, that are being developed by the IFL’s Enterprise Financing Facility and other products that require licensing and regulation from the National Bank of Ethiopia and the Ethiopian Capital Market Authority. It will have a national scope.

The duration of the assignment is nine months, with an extended period of the contract from August 2023 to April 2024. The duty station for the consulting firm is in Addis Ababa.

Interested consulting firms are invited to submit their applications by May 19, 2023, 6:00 (GMT-4.00) Eastern Time (US & Canada) Bogota, Lima.
