Addis Ababa, Ethiopia (02 Jun 2022)-The World Bank Group (WBG) has committed to investing $200 million in Ethiopia’s efforts to develop substantial jobs for the country’s growing youth population according to the Ministry of Labor and Skills.
Muferiat Kamil, Minister of Labor and Skills, met with World Bank Group Washington Bureau officials to discuss the strategy for strengthening the capacity of public technical and vocational training institutions, thereby providing skilled labor to the labor market.
A deal was reached to fund the project’s implementation with $200 million.
The World Bank is building 16 excellence centers in three East African nations, including Ethiopia, with the goal of improving TVET program accessibility and quality while also strengthening regional integration. Seven of these centers of excellence will be established in Ethiopia.
