The second Avocado Oil Factory, YBM, has now been in operation for two weeks and has created 50 permanent and 150 temporary jobs. With an initial capital of Birr 104 million, it produces and exports avocado oil in Yirgalem Agricultural Processing Industrial Park.
According to Tamene Gobena, General Manager of YBM Avocado Oil Factory, the factory receives avocados by partnering with 40,000 farmers within a 100 km radius. It then turns it into oil and exports it to Europe.
The Sanvado Avocado Oil Factory, which opened three years ago at Yirgalem Agro-Industrial Park, has partnered with 88,000 farmers, and is exporting its oil products to the Netherlands, providing 150 temporary employment and 40 permanent employments.
